Fight Food Cravings

by Melissa Paris

Four easy ways to fight food cravings!

Eat breakfast: Start off your day on the right foot! Eating breakfast leaves you more satisfied and less likely to overeat during the day. If you’re trying to lose weight by cutting calories and skipping breakfast you are taking the wrong approach. Hunger sets in long before it’s time for lunch, but because it’s not convenient to eat properly, many people who have not eaten breakfast snack on foods that are high in fat and sugar.

Eat small frequent meals:  If you don’t eat regularly, your metabolism slows down and your body stores more of the food you eat including fat and cholesterol. If you eat more frequently your body will burn calories instead of storing them wondering when the next meal is coming. Eating frequently will stabilize blood sugar levels, control cravings, and help you lose unwanted pounds.

Eat fruits and vegetables instead of high calorie packaged foods: Fruits and veggies are loaded with vitamins and minerals our bodies crave instead of packaged foods that have hidden ingredients and unwanted sugars and salt. Eating an apple with a tablespoon of almond butter will give you a late afternoon pick-me up.

Drink enough water for your body weight: YES I said water! Half of our body is made up of water. If you’re not sure how much you need look here http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm
Sometimes we just need to hydrate and having a glass or two before a meal can give us a better idea of how hungry we really are.
